Film Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace - 1505 Words
While portraying his groundbreaking role as Qui Gon Jinn in the 2002 hit movie Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Liam Neeson is quoted as saying, ââ¬Å"Your focus determines your reality.â⬠In the context of Salem, Massachusetts, this means that if one focuses on witches and witchcraft, their reality will then become witches and witchcraft. This is exactly what happened during the Salem Witch Trials during the late 1690ââ¬â¢s, as immortalized in Arthur Millerââ¬â¢s The Crucible. Though the Devilâ⠢ may have been present in Salem, it was not in the form of witchcraft, but rather in the form of fear within the townspeople. Arthur Miller used the Salem Witch Trials in The Cruci ble as an allegory for the mass hysteria he witnessed in his time through McCarthyism and the Red Scare. McCarthyism, named fairly enough after its instigator Senator Joseph McCarthy, swept the nation into a panic during the 1950ââ¬â¢s, and ignited a unique witch hunt, though not an unfamiliar one to the American people: aShow MoreRelatedThe Book The Seven Basic Plots : Why We Tell Stories1246 Words à |à 5 PagesStar Wars has entertained millions of people since its inception in 1977.
